Recensione di Giancarlo Zappoli lunedì 2 settembre 2019  Dietro porte chiuse va in scena una tragedia umana. Un tema universale, una storia di persone intrappolate in un’inumana rete di potere. Il circolo brutale delle riunioni dell’Eurogroup che impone alla Grecia la dittatura dell’austerity con un totale disprezzo per l’umanità e la compassione. Una trappola claustrofobica senza via d’uscita che esercita pressione sui protagonisti e finisce con il dividerli. Una tragedia nel senso della Grecia Antica i personaggi non sono buoni o cattivi ma guidati dalle conseguenze delle loro convinzioni su cosa sia giusto fare. Una tragedia per i nostri tempi molto moderni. In via del tutto eccezionale la sinossi è la traduzione letterale di quella scritta da Costa-Gavras per il pressbook del film. Costituisce un ottimo esempio di come questo suo film voglia configurarsi come un preciso atto di accusa di fronte al quale non sono percorribili vie di mezzo o si accetta il punto di vista o lo si respinge. Perché la prospettiva da cui si legge l’intera vicenda del rapporto tra il governo greco e le istituzioni europee è molto particolare. Il titolo del film è infatti lo stesso del libro pubblicato da Yanis Varoufakis all’epoca Ministro dell’Economia del Governo presieduto da Alexis Tsipras e l’intero succedersi degli incontri segue la visione che il professore di economia prestato alla politica ha di quegli accadimenti che, nel sottotitolo del volume, definisce come “La mia battaglia contro l’establishment dell’Europa”. Costa Gavras lo segue in totale adesione e per uno spettatore italiano si verifica una sorta di straniamento. Ci si chiede cioè come mai alcune sue affermazioni risuonino familiari in quanto ripetute in questi mesi e anni da un leader politico che ideologicamente non ha nulla da spartire con il ministro dichiaratamente di sinistra. Ecco allora emergere il motivo di interesse per un film che il regista greco realizza con lo stesso stile che caratterizzava le sue opere degli anni a cavallo tra gli anni Sessanta e i Settanta. Il disagio nei confronti di istituzioni che di recente hanno dovuto ammettere che il programma nei confronti della Grecia è stato troppo duro e che non si era tenuto conto “del crollo della speranza e delle aspettative”, è trasversale. Sono i rimedi che divergono profondamente. Costa Gavras, che è sempre stato dalla parte dell’umanità vessata, vede in Varoufakis il proprio eroe e a lui si affida nel momento in cui coloro che avevano mandato in fallimento il Paese riprendono il potere. La tesi è il Ministro dell’Economia rispettò il volere del popolo che si oppose in modo netto alla sottoscrizione di quel Memorandum of Understanding che di lì a non molto proprio Tsipras avrebbe accettato. Non era stata rispettata la volontà popolare ci ricorda il regista. Ma oggi quello stesso popolo, dopo anni di restrizioni, ha dato la maggioranza alla destra. Altri interrogativi si aprono e un film che stimola pensieri e riflessioni ha raggiunto il proprio obiettivo anche se non è indispensabile concordare con tutte le sue tesi.  Sei d'accordo con Giancarlo Zappoli? How are audiences supposed to understand the joy we all got seeing Han in the F9 trailers if they barely know his character?How are people supposed to know what Dom lost with the departure of Brian O'Conner without seeing all of their adventures together? And understand his convoluted family tree without watching The Fate of the Furious? How are you supposed to understand how annoying Tej Parker Chris "Ludacris" Bridges is without ... well, that's a bit easier to grok. I'm starting a podcast about the films of John Cena who will make his Fast & Furious debut in F9, and my co-host has never seen the movies, but is willing to watch them. And that means he's going to have to make an annoyingly expensive investment to be ready for that chapter of Cenaphiles when I figured out that name, I had to make the show. I'm not saying you should be able to watch all of these movies for free, they're fun enough that they shouldn't be stolen. But the current situation is so bad that I bet people are more likely to pirate some, if not all, than buy or rent. Or even worse? It's not hard to imagine that new audiences may not actually dive into these movies at all, since they're so hard to find. And that would be needs to fix its Fast & Furious problemThe solution is simple enough. The Fast & Furious movies are from Universal Pictures, which means they're under the NBCUniversal umbrella — which just released its own streaming service last summer. You may have heard of it, it's called Peacock. Peacock, the home of both The Office and WWE, is a perfect destination for the Fast Family. And these movies would be right at home in the ad-supported $ per month Peacock Premium plan. Because otherwise, you're spending north of $85 per month HBO Max is $15 per month, Fubo is $65 per month and Peacock Premium is $ before renting or buying Fast Five and The Fate of The Furious. It's probably due to pre-existing contracts that pre-date the idea of Peacock. But if Comcast really wanted to put Peacock on the map, it should have reclaimed all the F&F movies in time for F9. Sure Peacock has Harry Potter, but the adults in the room who need more horsepower and not Hogwarts house power need something less wizard-ish. Bringing everything back together would reunite the family.
